10 Skincare Mistakes You Need to Avoid!

  1. Sleeping with make-up on 

 

 

This one should be a no-brainer, but we get it, life is busy and sometimes we just want to hit our head on the pillow and forget to take our makeup off.

But this can can lead to clogged pores, blackheads and blemishes and will also block your essences, serums, treatments or moisturizers from absorbing properly.

2. Sleeping On A Cotton Pillowcase 

 

 Did you know that pressing your face into a cotton pillowcase causes trauma to the skin and causes creases as your collagen breaks down?

 That is why we advise you to switch to a silk or satin pillowcase. They present a kinder and cleaner surface for resting your cheek.

They can generally help to reduce frizz and hair breakages and to keep your skin looking its best!

  

3. Only Moisturizing at Night

 

Many women only moisturize their skin at night, and not in the morning after they wash their face.

This very often happens because they are applying make-up in the morning and think the moisturizer will over saturate / over moisturize their skin and keep their make up from staying on.

4. Not Wearing Sunscreen Daily 

Many people believe that sunscreen is only for the summer months or for the beach. Wrong!

Applying sunscreen every day should be top priority in your skincare daily routine, if you want to avoid fast skin aging.

The sun speeds up the aging process (referred to as “photo-aging”) by contributing to fine lines and wrinkles, loss of elasticity, dark spots and even skin cancer.

5. Washing With Very Hot or Cold Water 

  Taking a super hot shower in the winter might feel great, especially after a workout, but hot water can strip the skin of its natural moisturizing oils and dry it out.

This is also true of excessively cold water, too.

Always wash your skin using lukewarm water to avoid dryness and moisturize your skin afterwards to replenish hydration.

  

6. Not using a serum before the moisturizer

7. Over-Exfoliating

If you see any signs of over-exfoliation (dry/tight skin, redness, flakiness, sensitivity and bumpy skin texture), reduce how often you exfoliate or consider adjusting your exfoliation products to more gentle options.

 

8. Not Being Consistent In Your Skin Care
